Superbowl XXXVI
Patriots v. Rams
20 - 17Oh, the Superbowl, where do I even begin. It was a dream come true for Westy that is for sure! The decision to go had to be quick and of course, it was not cheap. Our son encouraged us to "Go For It, for me!"
The whole weekend was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. One of the first nights Ted Johnson spotted Westy on Bourbon Street, stopped to pose for a picture then Westy was interviewed by our local Channel 5's Kelly Tuthill.
We found the ultimate Patriot's Fan Party Bar ~ The Corner Bar! Thanks again, Brad! The excitement and hype the 3 days before was indescribable. The rallies were amazing. It seemed like everyone in New Orleans was rooting for the Pats. There was Ram's merchandise everywhere but most of the Patriot's merchandise was gone and what was left was doubled and tripled in price. My girlfriend and I watched the game at The Corner Bar while the guys got the tickets to the game. Incredible! I was taping reactions of the crowd in the bar after the win and have never seen so many men cry and hug in my life! We decided to take off for the Fairmont Hotel to catch the Champion Team's arrival. I got video of the trophy coming into the hotel being held up for the crowd to see by Robert & Jonathon Kraft. We were fortunate enough to see a lot of the players and get photos with them. I think the highlight had to be going into the team's celebration party. Westy was in heaven, just being there and being a part of it was overwhelming for him. He was almost speechless, until he saw Robert and Jonathon Kraft coming toward us. Of course, I had cameras rolling and still pictures going the whole time. This is what Kodak moments are made of. The players we saw would come up to the video camera and yell, "# 1, Champions Baby!" They were all so pumped ~ it was awesome to see! We tried to leave at least 3 or 4 times, but every time we tried we saw more players, friends and people that recognized Westy from Foxboro. I think it was about 4:30 am by the time we packed it up to head for the hotel.
Being the wife of a fanatic New England Patriot's fan (and it doesn't stop when football season is over), I am glad my husband was able to experience the Superbowl with his favorite team. It truly was a dream come true for him! Believe it or not, he was just as fanatic about the Pat's before the Superbowl win. He loves the team win or lose. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Tina
